Silverado Interests was co-founded by father-and-son team Rick and Dan Slaven,  who collectively possess more than 50 years of real estate experience.

Rick Slaven is a co-founding partner at Silverado.  He began his career in real estate in 1972 and spent 11 years with the Hines organization based in Houston. Rick worked with Morton H. Meyerson beginning in 1987 and successfully invested in multiple real estate product types producing a strong IRR and multiple on over 70 investments realized through the end of 2008. In 2004, Rick became one of the founding partners of E2M and a member of its investment committee. For E2M’s Value Added Fund I, Rick helped raise and invest over $300 million. E2M has since completed a second and third fund which are fully invested. In 2008, Rick co-founded Silverado with his son, Dan Slaven, to focus on smaller, individual real estate transactions that were not competitive with E2M. Additionally, Rick spent six years on the Investment Advisory Committee to the Board of Regents for the Texas Tech University Endowment. He holds an electrical engineering undergraduate degree from Texas Tech University and an M.B.A from Harvard.

Dan Slaven is a co-founding partner at Silverado.  Dan is responsible for implementing strategies to discover real estate opportunities and foster relationships with our operating partners, while creating returns that are highly satisfactory. Dan’s efforts have played a key role in closing over 80 transactions for Silverado. These transactions include assets in senior care, memory care, limited service hotels, student housing, multi-family, self-storage and retail. Prior to starting Silverado, Dan spent the first nine years of his real estate career as vice president of what became known as MMB-Group. This was a joint venture between Morton H. Meyerson, Manhattan Construction, and Paul Berry. The company focused on vertical development of all commercial real estate product types, including retail, multi-family, medical office, and medical condos. With Dan’s prior roles and his current role at Silverado, he has a vast knowledge of every product type in real estate and is able to identify value-add projects to produce satisfactory returns. He holds an undergraduate degree from Texas Christian University.  Dan is a member of YPO and sits on the board of advisors for Miniluxe, Prime Sleep, and Cariloop. Jonas Levy serves as director of investments and development at Silverado focusing on the firm's investment opportunities. He is responsible for underwriting, deal structuring, and due diligence of development projects and asset acquisitions. Since 2012, Jonas’ has played a key role in closing over 55 transactions for Silverado.  These transactions include real estate projects in senior housing, hospitality, student housing, multi-family, self-storage, retail, office, industrial and operating companies. Prior to Silverado, Jonas worked with Behringer Harvard holding positions in both the multifamily fund and the Holding company’s finance and capital markets group. During his tenure, Behringer Harvard’s multifamily fund grew from $128 million in real estate assets under management to over $4 billion under management. Jonas was critical to this growth through capital raising efforts and strategic debt and acquisition analysis. While in the capital markets group he worked on dispositions, financings, and restructures, across various real estate types including multifamily, office, data centers, hotels, condos, mixed use developments and a corporate credit facility. Additionally, Jonas has worked for J.P. Morgan, and Fidelity Investments. He holds a BBA with a concentration in Finance from the University of North Texas and an M.B.A. from Southern Methodist University Cox School of Business with a concentration in Finance.

Mark Westerburg joined Silverado in 2018 as Chief Financial Officer. He has over 18 years of real estate experience in investing, operations, management, capital raising, M&A advisory, lending and leasing.Mr. Westerburg previously spent six years with Stratford Land, a land-focused investment manager for a series of partnerships and private investment funds totaling nearly $1B in capitalization. In his most recent role as Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Westerburg was responsible for accounting, finance, audit, investor relations, tax and treasury functions. He initially served as Senior Vice President of Finance and Operations with oversight of financial planning, forecasting and budgeting processes for the funds and over 50 individual investments. Prior to Stratford Land, Mr. Westerburg spent two years with the corporate strategy group at Dell, Inc. where he focused on various strategic and operational initiatives led by the CEO and the Executive Leadership Team. He also worked over four years in the real estate investment banking group at JMP Securities, where he was actively involved in raising over $2B in public/private equity and debt and more than $1B in domestic M&A. Mr. Westerburg began his career with the middle-market and the institutional lending groups at KeyBank Real Estate Capital in the San Francisco and Dallas offices. He holds a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Texas at Austin.

Charles Tusa is involved with creating long-term relationships with investors and the firm’s operating development partners. Charlie has more than 40 years of business management, operational, and investment experience. Prior to joining Silverado, he managed his own real estate investment advisory firm. His business experience includes serving as a regional human resource consulting principal at KPMG and serving as president of two major family offices, Rosewood Management Corporation and the Beck Family Office. His operational experience includes serving as Managing Director of the Crescent Joint Venture where he had oversight responsibility for the construction, leasing, and general management of the $250 million Crescent Property and serving as president of TUSA Office Solutions, a commercial office furniture dealership that grew from $25 million to $70 million in sales during the 11 years of his involvement. After graduating from college, Charlie served as a Special Agent of the FBI for over six years. He has been involved with a number of community and educational organizations and currently serves as a member of the Salesmanship Club and Chairman of the Security Committee for the AT&T Byron Nelson Golf Classic and formerly served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the University of Dallas. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and an MBA from the University of Dallas. Amanda Cooley joined Silverado in 2017 and assists with underwriting new investment opportunities, asset management, and investor relations. Prior to joining Silverado, Amanda was an Asset Manager at Harvest Interests where she managed an institutional real estate portfolio of multifamily, senior living, and retail developments throughout the U.S. She performed the analysis and reporting for two investment funds as well as separate account portfolios. Amanda started her career as a Credit Analyst at Amegy Bank where she participated in a formal credit training rotational program. There she gained experience in underwriting multifamily, office and retail projects in Houston, San Antonio, and Dallas. Amanda received a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from the University of Oklahoma.
"Brandi Karamali" "Lynn Kieffer"
Brandi Karamali joined the Silverado team in 2017. Before joining Silverado, Brandi spent nearly five years working at Frost Bank, working in retail first as a Personal Banker, and then moved to the Dallas Private Banking department. While in Private Banking, she primarily worked with clients who have a net worth of $15MM+ and assisted the Group Sales Manager completing various reports regarding sales, call and loan goals, projected loan completion, and pipeline analysis for the entire North Texas region. Brandi holds a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Coastal Carolina University, and is currently working on a Master’s degree from the University of North Texas at Dallas.

Lynn Kieffer is an Associate at Silverado Interests and manages the office and marketing. Previously, she worked at Medical Sleep Solutions as a Senior Marketing Representative where she helped develop customized market strategies which yielded 40% growth resulting in over 3.5 million in billing. She also worked for Petro-Hunt, LLC as an Executive Secretary for W. Herbert Hunt, Doug Hunt, and Gage Prichard, Sr.
